Research Interests

Parkville Precinct Medical is a Teaching and Training General Practice and also actively involved in a range of research collaboratives.

PPM is an approved RACGP Training Practice and we currently provide training placements and support for GPT3 and GPT4 GP Registrars.

PPM is also an active member of VICREN, a University of Melbourne led Research Collaborative designed to support improvements in patient outcomes, clinical practice and health policy.

In addition to VICREN, PPM is actively involved in a range of research interest groups with academic and clinical institutions surrounding the Parkville Precinct and beyond.

Our team is actively involved in teaching, training and research and we are open to participating in collaboratives in the following areas:

  • E-health. Opportunities to improve clinical practice with technologies that assist in quality care, clinical audit, information sharing and patient empowerment through patient data sharing
  • Improvements in chronic disease planning and care
  • Mental Health and well-being, including studies related to new mental health treatment options
  • Vaccinations – the role of vaccinations in ensuring a safe workplace

Dr Rita McMorrow is currently completing a PhD at the University of Melbourne, exploring the impact of diabetes on patients. Dr McMorrow is also a Training Supervisor for GP Registrars at our practice. 

Dr Lewis is involved in collaboratives with other specialists to provide responsive and effective care to COVID19 positive patients, and post COVID19 care. Dr Lewis is the Practice Principal and also the lead Training Supervisor for our GP clinical training program.
